About Us
Awaken Childcare is under the mission and outreach of Awaken Church in Wallace, NC. Awaken Childcare is focused on caring for and developing a love of learning in a Christian atmosphere and a readiness for kindergarten that emphasizes social skills, academic preparedness, and emotional and spiritual development of the child.

Your child’s brain doubles in size during his first year of life and is at 90% of its adult size by age 5. Research has shown that the quality of a child’s experiences in the first few years significantly shapes how their brains develop into adulthood. Awaken Childcare utilizes a blend of the best practices. We believe that you as the parent are your child’s first teacher, our skilled teaching staff is the second teacher, and the environment your child is in acts as the third teacher. You will notice intentional “invitations to play” to encourage curiosity and exploration. Children are capable of so much more than we often give them credit for, so we give opportunities for them to be independent with practical life skills.
Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum is part of the daily structure in each classroom (infants through Pre-K). Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum is a research-based early childhood curriculum that focuses on hands-on learning, exploration, and developmentally appropriate practices. It supports the growth of the whole child by promoting social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development through meaningful play and intentional teaching. Teachers use observations and assessments to plan activities based on each child’s individual needs and interests. The curriculum encourages active learning, positive relationships, and engaging classroom experiences that help children build confidence, independence, and school readiness skills.
